About Danny

When Danny was seven years old, he landed the coveted role of "Dopey" - a non-speaking part - in his grade three class production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.  What his teacher didn't know, was that you can't cast Danny Williams in a musical and expect him to stay quiet.  About halfway through the show, the mute "Dopey" found his voice, belted out someone else's song, and...a star was born!  As his mother, Patsy, still says:  "I didn't even know he could sing until then!"

Born and raised in Toronto to Irish parents as one of six kids, Danny learned early that the only way to get himself heard was to sing what he had to say.  On road trip to Montreal where his big sister Mary Jo was competing in an Irish Dancing feis, Danny's dad, Joe, let him have a try at the classic Danny Boy.  When Danny finished the song, his father paused and said, "That's your song now."  To have a listen, click here.

For ten years, Danny performed with the popular Toronto-based Irish band Fresh Eire.  In 2000, they recorded their first album, A Breath of Fresh Eire and in 2001 they toured Ireland to promote it.  In 2003, the band recorded their second album, Fresh Eire LIVE.  To listen to a sample of both albums, click here.

Danny's musical taste has long been diverse.  As he says on his Facebook page, in response to the Favourite Music question, "I haven't been able to honestly answer that question since it's been posed to me."  Click here to visit Danny's Facebook page.  While performing and recording Celtic and Irish folk music with Fresh Eire, he was also on tour with the North American acclaimed production company, Classic Albums Live, performing the music of classic rock n' roll albums like Dark Side of the Moon and Joshua Tree.  And returning to his love of the stage, Danny launched his theatrical  career with Drayton Entertainment - Canada's second largest theatre company - in 2005.  Click here for discography and a full list of performances.

Danny makes his home in Oshawa, Ontario with his wife Jodi and their two beagles, Isabelle and Tiberius.  When he is not playing the piano, guitar, bodhran or whistles, he is being obsessive about the state of his lawn and cedar hedges and either mourning the state of the Toronto Maple Leafs or lauding the success of the Toronto Raptors.
